Julie Polousky (1908-1976)...Born: Philadelphia, PA

Julie Polousky grew up on the East Coast. After studying art in New York State, she took additional instruction from Loren Barton and Vanessa Helder in Los Angeles. Her husband was a career serviceman in the Marines. He was stationed in a number of different locations and traveling gave her an opportunity to paint a wide variety of subjects.

While in San Diego, she painted the dock workers and cityscapes of Southern California. In Hawaii, she produced watercolors of floral still life subjects and views of Pearl Harbor. She was on the military base at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and produced several watercolors depicting the event.

After World War II, Polousky lived in Vallejo and Long Beach. She primarily exhibited her works with the California Water Color Society in the 1940s and 1950s.
