FREDERICK ROLAND MINER (1876-1935). Painter, photographer. Born in New London, CT on Oct. 28, 1876. Miner studied at the ASL in NYC under John Carlson. After arriving in Southern California in 1897, he had a studio/home in Pasadena. A peripatetic artist, he made many trips back to the East Coast to paint and study. He authored and, with his own photographs, illustrated the book Outdoor California in 1923. Miner died in Los Angeles on Jan. 10, 1935. EXHIBITED: Architecture Club (LA), 1912; Royar Gallery (LA), 1912; Panama-California Expo (San Diego), 1915 (bronze medal); SFAA, 1917-19; California Art CLub, 1918; Painters & Sculptors of LA, 1926; Laguna Beach AA: Society of Independent Artists. WORKS HELD: Union League Club of LA (Old Oak); Glendale Sanitarium (Garapatos Canon).
