JOSEPH FREY (1892-1977)

Joseph Frey was born in Walla Walla, WA. Frey began his art studies at the AIC at age 16. He opened his first studion in 1915 in San Francisco. After serving in WWI, Joseph sailed out of SF & spent many years at sea working as a chef and studying painting. By the late 1920's he settled in Southern California where he lived and worked in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and Santa Barbara. Joseph Frey is best known for his landscape paintings of the Southern California Mountains & Deserts.
